The Office of Planning and Operations formerly the Office of
Policy and Planning is charge with the responsibilities of monitoring
affordable housing implementation and fiscal management
of grants to local agencies and community development corporations.
This Office continues to work closely with Rhode Island Housing
and Statewide Planning to monitor and report on the implementation
of the approved local affordable housing plans. Since
the Comprehensive Housing Reproduction and Rehabilitation Act
was passed in 2004, communities such as North Kingstown,
Burillville, New Shoreham, Middletown, Hopkinton, North
Smithfield have made significant progress in implementing housing
strategies and producing Low/ Moderate Income (LMI) units
toward achieving their 10% affordable housing goal. The above
mentioned communities may achieve their 10% affordable housing
goals within 1 to 2 years. The 2007 Annual Report on the
